I have had so much support from family, friends and twitter. I think that is key to becoming a successful breastfeeding mama. I have had a wonderful 16 months of nursing my baby girl.
But as all good things must come to a close sometimes..I think our time has come to wean.. I have been back and forth about weaning. I kind of feel selfish about it because I am not sure my daughter is 100 percent ready to give it up but part of me is ready to have my body back. Does that sounds bad? Also I am afraid if we keep going to that it would be even harder to stop nursing even more then it is now.
I know that some choose to nurse until baby is ready on their own. I do not see anything wrong with you who choose to nurse for how ever you and your baby choose too.
We are on day 2 of weaning.. So far we have cut out all day time weaning and have only nursed first thing in the am and at night before bed time. Last night was a bit hard in the middle of the night as she looked to nurse but I held my own and she went back to sleep ok. I think we will keep the am and night feeding for a few days and then try to break those. I have heard day time feeding are the best way to go first then break the night and am feeds. Wish us luck.
I think this is best for me and my baby girl..

Just popping by to return the follow; cute blog btw! Good luck with weaning; I introduced the bottle gradually and had no problems weaning.
ReplyDeleteHope you pop back over for my March Madness event to enter giveaways from LeapFrog, Hasbro, Kidorable, Kiddie Cath-All, Lil Melon and CoolGear. I'd sure appreciate it. :)
Howdy! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog design site today and following along. I am so glad you did! I love getting to meet new people. Good luck with the weaning. My son was unable to BF because of a tied tongue that went undiagnosed until after 1 year. I feel your pain with his binkie though. We weaned him cold turkey the first time and he was fine but after a 13 hour plane trip where he needed it, it's been a rough time getting him to let go again. You can do it though! You already have the perfect attitude and you know what is best for your little girl. I hope you’re having a great day!

Do what is best for you and your baby. You both will be fine and she'll be happy and healthy.

Hi! I am a new follower from Monster Mayehm Monday! And I wanted to say Kudos to you for BFing so long! That is awesome! I nursed my son for 18 months I am was READY to be done at that point. There comes a time for at least me when I just need to have my self back! LOL!! This time IDK how long I will nurse. Addie is 8 months old (tomorrow!!) and I know I will go pretty much as long as she wants, but then again ask me when she is 18 months LOL!
ReplyDeleteIf you are ready, then do it :) You are a very loving mama and will watch her cues and do it gently. Sounds like that is exactly what you are doing!
ReplyDeleteI nursed my first until she was 2 yrs old. I had to wean her because my new baby had a bad latch and I was all cracked and in pain.
With my 2nd, I weaned him at 15 months old because I was preggo and didn't want to tandem nurse again. It took a few days but he was fine with it.
Now with my third, she is only 3 months old. I do want to just let her decide, but sometimes children need a littler encouragement, sometimes not. Depends on the mama and baby!
I don't miss those times at all. A little or lot of work. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteFollowing you back.
Good luck!
